IPL / Toning Laser
IPL / 토닝 · also: Photofacial, 레이저 토닝, Laser toning
Broadband light (IPL) and low-fluence toning lasers that fade freckles, melasma and redness for the even, luminous 'glass skin' Korea is known for.
A short questionnaire and dose mapping — usually done the same day, right before treatment.
How it works
IPL targets pigment and vessels with pulsed light; toning lasers gently break down melanin over many sessions. Together they even out tone and add glow with minimal downtime.
Pigment laser · acts at 0.3–1.5 mm · deepest layer: Dermis
Where collagen and elastin live. Almost every 'skin quality' treatment is aimed here.
Depths are indicative and vary by device, cartridge, body area and individual.
Pigment laser
Very short pulses are absorbed by melanin and shatter pigment into fragments the body clears over weeks.

FAQ
IPL or a pico laser?
IPL is broad-spectrum light covering pigment and redness together over large areas, and it's cheaper. Pico lasers are more precise and better for stubborn or deeper pigment. For general dullness and mixed tone, IPL is good value; for specific dark spots, pico wins.
How many sessions?
Usually 3–5, spaced 3–4 weeks apart, and the effect is cumulative. Single sessions give a brief brightening.
Is it safe on darker skin?
It needs care. IPL targets melanin broadly, so deeper skin tones carry a real risk of burns and post-inflammatory pigmentation. A clinic that doesn't ask about your skin type before treating is one to leave.
Will it fix melasma?
Often not, and it can make melasma worse. Melasma responds better to gently targeted approaches. If you've been diagnosed with melasma rather than sun spots, say so explicitly.

Before you compare quotes: what this price is actually per
- A flat per-visit price. The thing to check is how many visits the full course needs.
Flat per session, and among the cheapest things on a Korean menu. The variable is how many sessions a clinic expects and whether a soothing mask or LED finish is added on top — small add-ons in the ₩5k–30k range get appended routinely.
- Soothing mask or LED finish
- Numbing cream, if requested
